I've just come across this review of FC5 and the reviewer seems to have had problems installing on an Nforce mobo with a an Nvidia 6600GT card.

I think his conclusion is a little strong:

"I would only recommend FC5 to people who do not own Nvidia video cards or do not mind tweaking a lot default settings to get things working. Otherwise stay with what you are using and wait for Suse 10.1 or Ubuntu’s Dapper."

I have a 6600GT card and an nforce4 motherboard and installation went smoothly, so these problems clearly don't affect all nforce boards or nvidia cards.. That said, I'll be pleased when they sort out a kernel upgrade and livna release an Nvidia driver, but as this isn't likely to take too long I'll put up with the nv video driver until then.

Quite strong. The nv driver should work at least.

Oh well, I guess some people are attached to their propietary 3D acceleration.

Moved.

Fedora has already released a patched kernel so using the NVidia drivers is a snap.

1. Run Pup to get current kernel. Reboot to run new kernel
2. Add http://rpm.livna.org/ to your list of repositories in Pirut (how-to add to repo at: http://rpm.livna.org/configuration.html)
3. Follow directions on linva page to load NVidia kernel module and video drivers
4. Enjoy
