Fedora help

Please help a newbie.
WHen i tried installing Fedora normally it would just hang as soon as it fininshed probing The video card etc. I then used the text installer which worked fine but when I finished the install and tried to boot up it would hang again during the first time boot configuration any ideas on what the problem could be????

my system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
WD 120 GB
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 256
512 MB
ASUS A7NX8E - Deluxe

Please identify where it "hang"ed? What exactly was the last line on the screen? What was the line before the last line on the screen?

Well, ATI video cards are well know under Linux because of their problems. Maybe you'll have to check the ATI driver and find another one with less conflicts.

You should wait another member's reply who really knows better about this.

By the way, congratullations for that ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 256 !!! :D

but the problem is that it won't even let me set up my card it just freezes there doesn't seem to be a way to change any drivers at least for a newbie

please read this bug report, all of it. it has a good explaination as to why the card don't work initially, why it's really not supported, and why it isn't being fixed "right now". as soon as the writer of the code gets it written then it may become a non-issue. you might try the suggested fixes to your problem or it may help you give more details on what is happening.

Still feeling a bit lost in linux but I'll get used to it.
