Scannig in network

I have a HP PSC2355 connected to my server. I can scan fromthe server. But when I try to scan frm a workstation (I use Gimp: File > Aquire > XSane Device dialog) the following happens: I am asked to accept the end user agreement, then another window pops up with the HP device on it. When I hit okay, I get the following message:
Failed to open device `hpaio:/usb/PSC_2350_series?Serial=HU49.....`: Error during device I/O

I search in google or threads but cannot find the error. Any odeas?
