Hi everyone,

I am a total Linux newb(but am pretty proficient in windows and such) and am attempting my first attempt at running a Linux system. This system is actually going to be a MythTV box once I am done. But I not at the MythTV point yet so that is irrelevant to my present issues.

So following a MythTV guide I found I began installing Fedora Core 4. Everything went really smoothly with the initial installation. I installed using the DVD ISO from one of the mirrors. Once my installation was completed I went ahead and performed an update by running #yum upgrade and following through the procedure. After it finally finished installing the many, many updates I went ahead a performed a reboot. First a little background, while doing the initial installation I had both a PS2 Keyboard/Mouse as well as a Bluetooth Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse setup all plugged in. The PS2 KB/Mouse worked fine on the initial installation and the Bluetooth did not, I assumed because the original Kernal maybe did not have native Bluetooth support? Anyways I wasn't too concerned and figured I would get to it later once the initial install was completed. So once I rebooted after updating I now have NO keyboard/mouse at all, neither set will work which means I can't get past the initial login prompt. What I assume has probably happened is that during the update procedure maybe the Bluetooth stuff was installed and it deactivated the PS2 drivers, but for some reason the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse don't work either. I assume this could be due to PIN numbers or some such thing although the mouse doesn't use a PIN at all. I can see the Bluetooth transceiver flashing when I move the mouse around and hit some keys on the keyboard so it seems like they are functioning and they do work fine in Windows environment(I have a dual boot setup on this machine at the moment).

Basically I am not kind of stumped since I cannot login now. I am able to use the PS2 keyboard/mouse in the grub screen but anything past that point it won't work, so I could potentially add some commands into Grub to load up on startup if that would help. I noticed in Grub I can revert back to my older Kernel and it allows the PS2 keyboard/mouse to still work. As an aside Why is it that it allows me to still use the older Kernel when I just went through all these updates?? More importantly what are my options to fix the new kernel so I can at least use the PS2 Keybaord/Mouse to at least log back in. I would ideally like to get the Bluetooth setup working as that is my plan for the HTPC setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, please help this newb out as I am determined to get this working and so far I really like what I see in Linux and may end up running it on my main PC as well if this works out well.
