i found this external hard drive on madrive the linux os well i was on the shopping part and found this hard drive ,but the speacial part about it that the madriva os boot up through the external hard drive. With a usb port and disk drive you can boot mandrak linux on any computer. now the queston is can i install fedora linux on it and it would still boot like manadrak.
her is the url to the product
click her to see the product (http://store.mandriva.com/product_info.php?products_id=277&osCsid=fd94765635456c6d1b64a2e20e05d0a8)
if it wont work is there a way i can install linux on a external hard drive or is there another product out that world do what i want it to do.

Personally sure it looks nice but not convientent... I'd buy one of your local Future Shop (I'm up in canada, but for 200$ Canadian $ of course I got 160GB, double theirs.)
Then that way you can install Fedora or Mandriva with double the storage, and partition it your way.
PLUS, madriva is free so it's not like you're getting much with it preinstalled anyways. Click a button ald let it install for an hour, same result.

btw, you're only getting 1 month support for this purchase, and it's web support.
also, USB = Universal Serial Bus => That's why they can advertise it's connected through a system bus. Yes it is, and so is every other USB device existing out there. This HD is USB connected and it's no different from the ones you or I are talking about...
Requirements for USB booting:
1) BIOS must have support for it (check before trying...)
2) it must be partitioned to be recognized by the installer (format it completely, then try again). Doesn't technically *have* to be, but I do it just incase and it's worked for me
3) Start the linux installer with linux expert to load the USB modules.

It should, but again only if you BIOS supports it. check first.
