I'm curious as to what's going on. THe DVD drive that I've been using for a while now has this thing where the eject button is virtually useless when there is a disc in the drive. I can unmount and eject it by right clicking the disk and choosing eject, not a big deal. But now I got a newer DVD burner and it doesn't seem to be affected in the same manner. I had always thought the behavior from before was an aspect of the linux distro, to prevent someone from ejecting the disk unexpectedly. Now I'm not so sure. Thoughts?

The behavior that I observe is that the eject button won't work if Linux automatically mounts the cd or dvd. (i.e. the eject button does not automatically cause the disk to be unmounted .) Are the (non-blank) dvds and cds that you put in your new burner being automatically mounted?

Yeah, they auto-mount.
The behavior doesn't bug me too much, though I'd prefer for it to sense the button automatically and unmount whenever I use it.
