Hello to everyone.
I'm very happy for the new release of the fedora core 5 test 3 but i cannot install it on a pc that has not ide drive but only external usb dvd drive. Booting from dvd is ok, but when the installer executes anaconda, exits setup with fatal error! Mounting a dvd ide drive all works fine! The same problem is solved in Gentoo distro by typing "dobladecenter" as install kernel parameter; this parameter will introduce some extra delays before attempting to mount the filesystem. This is needed to allow the USB drive to settle upon detection. Is possible to make the same function in the FC5 installer?

I forget which thread, but there's another similar one. The new Anaconda (Fedora installer program) fixed this bug. Because the FC5T3 CD's don't use this new anaconda, for now there's nothing you can do :(
The final FC5 release will have the fix to this issue.

Thanks. Then i'll wait the final FC5 release. Only another question: do anyone know if the final FC5 release fix the bug about dmraid that can install FC5 in a (software)Raid0 partitions with Windows pre-installed for a dual boot but after cannot execute FC5 (kernel panic)? Thx

Thanks Firewing1 for your help... I don't know about bug link but i've read also this problem in other thread without answer... I have a system with 2 sata HD in Raid0 (chip: Via VT8237) with windows installed; FC5 is the first distro that implements dmraid in the installer (i couldn't install any linux-distro previous FC5); now the installer read well all my raid0 partitions and install successfully FC5; grub read well the windows system but when i launch FC5 it exits after "Kernel Panic" message and is impossible to execute FC5... dmraid apparently don't want to work! However thx for your help!

you might have to install the VIA patch for the kernel.

Hi Voltron,
See my other thread on this, my workaround was to copy it all onto another PC and share via NFA, and then install from USB key as boot device.
Hope that helps.

Thanks all. For the problem about booting install from usb dvd drive, i'll wait the FC5 final release because i don't have any usb key or other bootable device. But for the problem about raid (of another computer), if the solution is in the via patch, how can i patch the kernel if i cannot enter in the linux system?
