I have a dell inspiron 3800 with an orinoco gold wireless card. I have just reinstalled FC5 test 3 and can not get the wireless to work. I had the wireless internet working on the previous install of FC5 test3 (with a lot of random work), but have absolutely no clue how to get it working now. Any suggestions?

What does dmesg say ?? Have a look in /lib/firmware. If there is nothing in there you will have to download the latest firmware and put in the /lib/firmware directory

dmesg shows that the orinoco driver was loaded, but there is nothing in /lib/firmware. I had this card working in a previous FC5 test3 install and did not require the firmware (but I did have to hack the hell out of it). What firmware are you talking about?

I have installed FC5 test3 several times now, and each time it seems as though the default config is different (obviously a beta problem). On a couple installs, the wireless card defaulted as the "wifi0" device and I could not get it to work as wifi0. However, on the last reinstall, the wirelss card defaulted to "eth0" and I got it to work. Also, my /etc/modprobe.conf file had "alias eth0 hostap_cs" instead of "alias eth0 orinoco_cs" when it worked. Any explanations for why FC5 uses the hostap_cs instead of the orinoco_cs that I thought it should use?
