Hello,
I was wondering what happened to gdm-early-login in FC5. In my FC4 package, theservice is there, in the dev package (FC5T3) package of GDM it's gone. Will it be there in FC5? It really brought down my boot time...
Oh, and speaking of boot time, when initng coming into base or extras? :rolleyes:

GDM early login is stalled due to some networking issues. Initng is still under review for inclusion into Fedora Extras

Excellent... 'cause InitNG is a heckava lot faster then SysVinit
btw, do you think early-login will be ready for FC5 final?

No. I dont think it will be ready for FC5. FC5 devel tree is almost frozen now

I was reading on the bug -- is this "network" issue the NFS /usr problem?
EDIT: Speaking of which, either way I was reading the bugzilla and was too chicken to post incase it was the wrong section... Couldn't the developers delay it's startup, and have it work like this:
--> init, udev, hostname, fscheck, mount
--> syslogd start, kernel/system logger
--> HAL
--> eth0 internet start
--> xfs (eth is started already now)
--> gdm-early-login
--> the rest

Yes, NFS is one of the cited reasons. There might be others. You might want to post the suggestion to the bugzillla report or fedora-desktop list.

InitNG seems to have trouble starting X on FC5 here -- anyone?

I had the same problem. I'd get to between 93% and 98% but no Login screen. Can't even use Alt+F2.

Solved.

You need the new 0.6 RC1 rpms and the newest iplugins.
Upgrading to these fixed these issues.

Now Livna needs to get a normal nvidia driver out.. -_-
