I am trying to get Fedora Core 5 Test 3 to install I don't have much bandwith and downloaded disk 1 found I needed disk 2 got disk 2 found I needed disk 3 got disk 3 now I have maybe 1 to 2 packages left off and its asking for disk 4 is there any why to just get a bare bones install I have tried unchecked everything in the package installer no luck. Or is there away to do a partial network install to get the last remaining packages. I figure if I can just get a command line I can use yum.

hehehe thats why there are 4 disks beause the install will use either the 4 disks or the 1 dvd :)

it is possible to slim down on disks needed, typically if i install of cd's i only use 1-3, I read somewhere that the installer is supposed to be abl to connect to the repos and pull packages they need if you dont have the CD but maybe im going crazy and just dreamt that

lucky for you disk 4 is smaller than the other 3

If you want a barebone machine, then pick whatever packages you only want to install instead of default!!!

You could always find a distributor and have the disks mailed to you. I think the bare bones as you say is only 600-800Mb and would basically act like a router. If you want Gnome or KDE you'll most likely need all four disks.
