No, it's not ready for prime time yet, but IMOP FC5 (test3) is a fantastic release.
This is a major, major upgrade! Core 3 to 4 was polish.
Core 5 is "the" cats meow! Kudos to the dev team
Thoughts anyone?

well I'm still on 4, but I'm glad to hear that 5 is good. What desktop environment do you use it with? What are the major differences from 4 to 5?

Well, I used to have FC4 running on Dell P3 1GHz with 256MB and that thing was slow even with Xfce4! Then, the IT replaced my old Dell with the new one, P4 3.4GHz with 1GB of RAM and 19" LCD, a few weeks back. So I installed FC5Test2 on it and Gnome (2.13.91) is running much better now. Have to install a few programs from FC4 to get mp3 to work but so far, so good. I will hack that thing away and run "yum update" once every couple days to install the latest and see what happens... I am using it for testing FC5 right now and when the stable version comes out on March 15, it will go into that new Dell!!! :D

My record is in no way being challenged by you :D :D
I got my Dell last February, almost a year ago today in fact (40 minutes short). I turned it on it loaded windows xpsp2. I said, "Cool, it works." Shoved the boxes out of the way, cleared a corner of my desk and whipped out FC3 for it. Total windows time on system once it hit the door: 6 minutes.
Grats on the new toy....

Even though it has not been released yet, the draft release notes are available. (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs/Beats/OverView)

nice thread "fc5 is great but i'm not saying why!"
i thought fc5t2 was ok, beagle doesn't work very well though, is xen3 in there yet?
personally i thought fc2 to fc3 was the bggest leap for fedora. fc3 to fc4 didn't make much difference, possibly why there are rumours that redhat will skip fc4 and base rhel5 on fc5.

I would hope that RHEL 5 would be based off of FC5 since RHEL 5 will be out this summer, well after FC5.

I tried FC5 Test 3 and I am amazed at how stable it is. The only problem I could find so far, was Rhythmbox reporting an error burning an audio CD. I played the whole CD and it seemed fine. I think FC5 will be a winner, probably the best since FC1.

I'm a Gnome guy and I haven't run KDE yet. But in Gnome some of the differences are: streamlined Applications and Desktop menus...everything makes sense now.
My wireless network card is auto detected now! (doesn't work yet but It's there)
My second onboard ethernet chip was decteted for the first time ever.
Pup is cool, Yumex is very FAST.
F-Spot!
Beagle.
Tunderbird has inline spell check!
Amarok 1.4: all the features work...including musicbrainz. Other Amarok features have been enhanced.
Just to name a few.....

Running Fedora Core 5 Rawhide (very much like FC5T3). The scim feature is way better than the old IIIMF software. Japanese users will like the intuitive nature of SCIM: うおしゃ
I am currently learning that language.

yeah, FC5t3 is so cool. So I think the next FC5 release will be the best of Fedora Core linux :)

This is the first time I installed a test release and there hasn't seen any unstable behaviour. It's really cool.
