I am still confused with implementing selinux.
I was not able to log in in gnome otherthan as root.

I reinstalled with the new boot.iso from the development tree through http install. the new FC2 1.91 got installed without any problem.
i am able to log in with all the user id in gnome.
i installed k3b. k3b shows the cdwriter only in root login. other login it says enable the permission for k3b to automatically detect the writer. i am not able to manually add /dev/hdc in the configure option.

help me please

So you can now login other than root? Look for k3bsetup also. If you can't log in a root, check you /home/blah/.xsesson-errors file.

i checked up k3b setup.
the permisson was 660 root.disk. when i clicked apply it got changed autometically to 666 root.disk.

now k3b is working fine.

oh ! what a prompt reply in this fedora forum. i feel i have done a good decision to switch over to fedora.

thank you very much

as a normal user when i reboot the machine it says unknown user and hangs. i have to press ctl+alt+backspace and select reboot.
is it because of selinux.. where to set the user privileges

I tested Selinux and as a normal users, selinux prevented to access to my account. Since I have no idea how set up the privilege, I removed it. I will wait for the Test 2 version.

I've not had a good go of it yet. So no help here. I am planning to though.

i installed david ranch's firewall as service.
when i rebooted the machine permission was denied to start the service. i dont know how to set it right. the learning curve for selinux is steep.
i modified /etc/sysconfig/SELINUX=disabled.
now every thing is working fine including the firewall service except when i do the yum update lot of error messages comming.

May be i have to wait for the final releae of FC2 or some one gives me a idea how to configure selinux.

after updating to policy 1.9.1 i am not able to log in to gnome. it says the home directory is not available even for the root

i wish it will be nice if you provide redhat-config-selinux to configure the user privilege and services

My Gnome had disappeared when I upgraded. I had to re-install it.

Is it definitely there?

oh ! is it like that.. i am not sure whether it is gnome screen or not .
it is usual graphical log in screen
when logging it said usr dir is apparently not available do you want /root instead but the login was not successful.
again i had to disable the selinux to work

rsurlakumar, when in shell mode using root log, type "fixfiles relabel". Selinux will confirm everything is done. Try to log as an user, it should work. If not, reboot. I found that code while reading Selinux faqs from official Fedora Core website.

Finalzone,

thanks a freakin million. after updating some FC2 test2 packages, my system was unbootable. "fixfiles relabel" fixed all this, saving me a lot of trouble.

thanks again!
