If I download and istall fc5 test 2, will I be able to upgrade to test 3 when it comes out, or am I better off waiting?

Hi:

Not sure it matters a great deal as FC5 test 2 or 3 is just a freeze along the way to the ulitmate production release. The difference would be in the amount of downloads/updates of test2 to get to the status of test 3. Although it might be a lot easier to install etc.. being FC5 test 3 versue test 2 as more bugs have been solved. Given that FC5 test 3 is about to be released in a few days (afaik) it might be better to wait?

Thanks for the input. Maybe I will give Arch a shot in the meantime. I have read some good things about it.

Don't try upgrading from a clean test 2 to test 3.

There are a HUGE number of changes between test 2 original and rawhide.

I think there was a recompilation of everything in the release this weekend.

If you tried to upgrade from test 2 original to test 3, you'd download pretty much every RPM you had installed.

Cheers

Clean installation is better as pretty much every package has been rebuild for the transition from GCC 4.0 to 4.1 as the system compiler among various other changes

My clean FC5 Test2 wanted to download about 1000 packages, counting about 1GB.. I downloaded FC5 Test3 DVD instead. Reinstalling now..
