View Full Version : Kernels after 907 fail before login screen

I apply all available updates every day from the development system. My repos are development, extras-development, and ATRPMS. The only anomalies I observe in the updating process (I'm using pup) is that several apps (cadaver, oo, neon, and rpm) fail dependancies on libneon.so.x. (Note: I also exclude sqlite from the update process because of the memory consumption problem.)
Each new kernel after 907 fails at the point of showing the login screen. Reverting to the 907 kernel allows the startup to complete and no other problems are obvious. My testing is not throrough--I run apache, vsftp, and samba--but everything I have used seems to work fine (even sound!).

The libneon and sqlite problems are solved, but to my knowledge some atrpms-packages still want some older one, so to update my system it was neccessary to disable atrpms entirely.

Up to kernel 917. Still broken. Same symptom.
Any ideas on what I might back out, assuming the kernel is OK? Some xorg patch, perhaps?

Agreed...the libneon and sqlite problems have been solved. Recommend updating neon and sqlite. You can find out what you currently have installed; and what provides what by doing the following as I did below. Use the latest version of sqlite -- [root@localhost doug]# rpm -qa sqlite
sqlite-3.3.3-1
-- as indicated.
Once complete, you should be able to update rpm to the latest version, and thereafter update the other apps -- oo, cadaver, etc. -- as you desire. Once complete, execute a yum update as you normally do to make sure that all dependencies are resolved, and try booting with the current kernel 2.6.15-1.1917_FC5.
