Has anyone been experiencing a problem with Gnome where a copy/paste in gnome-terminal locks up gnome-panel? I've reported a bug (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329647) against the problem.
Basically, start GNOME, launch a gnome-terminal, then launch some really memory hungry applications. I'm starting VMPlayer, Eclipse, or a Java app (Cisco PDM). Start doing copy/pastes into gnome-terminal, then the gnome-panel and gnome-terminal application hangs. The panel buttons no longer work, but you can open and close existing windows, ALT-TAB to other windows. CTRL-ALT-F1 will get you to the text terminal, but you can't switch back to gdm. CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE will restart the gdm greeter, but Gnome will not restart.
If I switch to KDE as my desktop (ehhh), the problem doesn't exist.
Any ideas?
Andy
