I read somewhere thay they were trying to cut down on the number of cds required for the Fedora 5 installation something to the effect of a cd for the base and then a cd for either gnome kde etc. does anyone know the status on that??? or if thats still in effect in any way

Not for FC5 but probably FC6 or FC7.

awwww thats not cool......hmmm what is the "best" upgrade in Fedora 5 over 4? as in what is the biggest incentive for me to upgrade??? will kde 3.5 be in there?

use a dvd...
yes kde 3.5 will be there (its already in fc4 too)

Just update KDE.
yum update -y
