Im a n00b with linux so i apologize if this is a stupid question.
My current FC3 box is dying bad and not worth fixing. I do have a ton of stuff on it that I do want to keep....mainly mysql databases and web sites.
Is it possible to take the physical HD out and put it in another machine and have linux work as normal?
Or will there be issues?

it's gonna depend on how similar the new hardware is.

well, its 2 different computers completely.
So ill say they are not similar in the least. One is an HP, other is a Compaq

i mean...hardware-wise. what are the specs on the old vs. the new? intel, amd?? chipset? etc..

of course..you could image your current drive to another and give it a shot in the new one. if it kernel panic's or totally messes up the filesystem (unlikely), you'll have the origional drive to grab your data off of. but then you'd know for sure if it's gonna work.

Both are intel, not sure on specifics. Old used computers I picked up.
Im thinking from what I read is that it is easier to do a fresh install and export the mysql dabases.
thoughts?

that would be the most full-proof plan, while eliminating a few possible headaches.
