Hi there

I've a weird problem with an Armada 1750 (ATI video). When I close the lid the screen blanks to save the battery but when I open the lid again the screen remains blank. This is a problem with either X Windows or the driver because:

1) The problem does not occur during bootup before X Windows loads and runs.

2) Keying Cntl-Alt-F1 gives me a viewable text screen but Cntl-Alt-F7 does not bring me back to X.

3) Cntl-Alt-Backspace restarts X Windows and brings me back to a working logon prompt.

4) Windows has no problem <ggg>.

Fedora recognises the ATI correctly during setup but I still have this problem. Any ideas ?

Hi edal,

Thisis one of many known problems with laptops+broken APM+ATI Radeon/Mobility chipsets in our laptops. Can you be a little more specific as to what ATI chipset you have?

Try 'dmesg | grep drm' and paste that. (or dmesg | grep ATI)

I'm currently on an IBM Thinkpad A30 with an ATI Radeon Mobility M6 chipset using bleeding edge DRI snapshot binaries which seem to work nicely.

Hope that helps,
V

I think you are asking me to check for warning messages and messages in the log files. There aren't any relating to this problem.

I've been trying to get to the source of this problem since Fedora came out and I've been through all of the log files VERY carefully and found nothing. I'm now more inclined to blame this on ATI hardware but of course there is no proof.
