I cannot get this to work with Fedora Core 4.
I cannot seem to get it to show up when I try to add a wireless connection.

now I got it added, but when I try to activate it, I get

a bitrate error thing, and it tells me it was unable to activate.

Look at your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 file, It should look something like this:

IPV6INIT=no
ONBOOT=no
USERCTL=yes
PEERDNS=yes
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=eth1
HWADDR=
BOOTPROTO=none
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
IPADDR=192.168.1.100
DOMAIN=
ESSID=
CHANNEL=1
MODE=Managed
RATE=Auto <-----------------Add this line to it, and the error should go away

now I got it added, but when I try to activate it, I get

a bitrate error thing, and it tells me it was unable to activate.

I've read that it's also ok to ignore that error, will adding that line also make me able to connect?

Not necessarily, but it will remove the error. Need more info, are you using static IPs, or DHCPs??? Does your wireless card show up under the "Network Device Control" menu?? Does your wireless card connect to other wireless networks without using authentication?? Need more info.........
