Hi,

When I load FC4 and I see my desktop, if I open something, the screen seems to 'pop forward' (if that makes sense. Then if I minimise it, it sort of goes back. It's as if its enlarging slightly.
Is this normal?? I'm a bit worried.

I'd say that isn't normal. My screen stays pretty flat and lifeless.

hmm...scary.
Do you know if there is anything I can do to fix this? have you ever heard of this happening before?

aaa...It's doing something else now!
For some reason, the screen problem fixed itself. Literally...it just stopped doing it. Everything was fine until yesterday when I moved a window down and noticed the side that the window was being dragged on, went wavy! It's very odd.
I moved a window around and the screen started waving...it was very scary actually. Not the whole picture, just the edge...as if I had been playing with the pincushion settings on my monitor menu as I moved the window around...if that makes sense.

Are there any hardware people that might know if this is because my monitor is old and could be going to die on me? could that be a reason?

I would suggest checking themonitor on some other computer and re-configuring the graphics card using xorgconfig or system-config-diplay . I don't think the window manager must be creating this problem.

I decided to boot Windows from my other Harddisk and my monitor is fine in WinXP.
Scarily, when I opened system-config-display (via Desktop -> System Settings -> Display my monitor suddenly shut itself off. I had to shut X down using CTRL+ALT+[Backspace]!
It didn't do it the second time.

I really have no clue as to what is going on here. It didn't used to do this and I haven't changed anything that would effect my display.

One thing I noticed is, my monitor is a PBA720 (type 1) and I can't actually find it in the list of monitors...although it must have been detected because it's listed in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

This is just a bizarre problem and I have no idea what to do.
