Problem with sound VIA AC '97

I am having touble getting the sound to work on my Averatec 3150h laptop it seems like fedora recognizes the driver but then no sound ever comes so there is obviously something wrong. Is their some other driver i could try if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

heve you check the volume controll?

does it work with headphones?? if so APPLICATIONS>SOUND & VIDEO>VOLUME CONTROL>SWITCHES and tick the external amplifier

that is the problem i can't here it with either. When i trie the soundcard detection i can't here the sample sound. So i think it must not have found the right driver or something? Im really not sure and im a newbie.
