X Org Troubleshooting
-----------------------------

On my IBM thinkpad laptop Fedora core 4 is running, and I have this strange problem I cannot get back to the shell from X Window when I logout from the GUI. This happens in run level 3. In run level 5 I cannot switch to a virtual console useing ctrl+alt+f1. Once I try this I am not able to work on the computer and I am forced to reboot. The screen just blanks out without further display

The Xorg.conf file is perfect, my monitor is a generic 1024 X 768 laptop display panel, intel 852 VGA card with 16 mb shared memory, and 512 main memory. 40 GB hard drive with kernel 2.6.11 on FC-4

This problem is happening only in FC-4 and never happened in Fedora core 3 or other distros.

Please help me, as I always prefer working in run level 3, and rebooting the machine just because Xorg is not able to exit completely is not the solution.

regards
