Write a bug report in Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/index.cgi) if you want this to be fixed.

meanwhile, you might have a look at

http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/

I don't know if it has the support you want, but it might....

Well, by your version number kdebase-3.5.0-1.2.fc4.kde

That would indicate your using kde-redhat rpms and not Fedora rpms, beside the fact your using 3.5 and that isn't in fc4 :) Anyway, I'm pretty sure your bug will be closed because you aren't using a supported version, who is going to squash a bug that isn't theres?

You should check the kde-redhat site and see if he takes bugs, and close the one you opened up.

KDE 3.5 is in updates-released for FC4. I see the same bug in kdebase-3.5.0-0.1.fc4.

Holy crap, I've never seen an updated version like that in Fedora  Sorry, I run rawhide all the time so when I see a version upgrade like that I don't believe i've ever seen a "stable" release mv up.

How about gnome-212, since we mv'd from 2.12 in rawhide to 2.13 :)

I recently took on a personal project building the package from srpms for FC3.

was wondering if anyone else has went this route and noticed issues with 2 particular shared libs

The issues I noticed regarded shared libraries libattr.la and libacl.la

First issues is when kde searches for libattr.la it doesn't exist in path that kde looks for /lib/libattr.la. It instead resides in /usr/lib. This seems to be norm across most distro's, to correct this issue I made a symlink but this leaves the srpm broken if somebody else tries to rebuilt it on a default system.

The second issue is regarding libacl.la this file simply doesn't exist infact it is removed by the spec file before packaging. To fix this issue I removed the rm line in the spec file and also made a symlink, but again this would still be broken on a default system if somebody tries to rebuild.

The first issue with attr seems to be a problem with KDE, the second not exactly sure beings the library has been axed from the tree

I'm also am not sure if adding libacl.la in path would casue conflicts for the building of other apps that depend on acl libraries. If anyone has a answer to exact reason this was obsoleted in first place, a response would be great on this one.

at this point still building other packages so don't have any feedback on any other noticed bugs

note....
I am mostly sure this same issue would be in FC4 also beings these libs are in same location, FC5 not sure if anyone cares to share where these are in FC5 would like to know this as well...........
