View Full Version : Idea about FAQs

I have a suggestion although this may have been suggested before. Everyday I see the same questions come up over and over: How do I turn off spatial browsing, etc. Many of these questions are answered in Fedora FAQ web site. I don't know how much change it would require to the forum software but my simple idea is this:

Prepare a detailed standard response that basically says: Your question and many others are answered in Fedora FAQ web site and here's the address. Also you can look at these links, etc.

When moderators see questions like this, they can click one button in the moderator control center or whatever and the standard response would be posted automatically. It would be a time saver for moderators and people.

I know we shouldn't resort to this but people post without searching (like I didn't before seeing if this was already suggested :D ). It may improve things and save time for people.

Exactly. Except no one reads this. You still see the same questions everyday. I guess there is no perfect solution to this problem so I thought of this idea (the ability to post this information (or a link to it) with a click of a button). The other thing I thought is to make a post like this the main page of the forum with BIG LETTERS but it may be overkill. :)

It's not only us, who can do this. If you see something like this, then you can post this link.
A hint:

echo 'Your question has been already answered in the fedorafaq. org Pease refer to this thread (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53362) for more information'>faq.txt

And then everytime you see this kind of question just do

cat faq.txt

and copy&paste the line into the thread.
And no moderator or a heavy hack on the board software needed :D
