HELP PLEASE! cdrom not working

Hi, I have urgently to install fedora in my laptop. I have already an all version of Red Hat, but after so many changes and time using it my floppy disc and my cdrom do not work anymore....And I dont have Internet access from linux. How can I install fedora now???
I would really appreciate any kind of help. By the way, everytime I try to mount the cdrom, a message pops up saying "Natilus cannot find /mnt/cdrom, the device does not exists"

Does the folder /mnt/cdrom exist?

Have a look in your /etc/fstab file as well as this will tell you how it is trying to mount your cdrom and floppy.

one way to test your device would be to use mount.

mount -t iso9660 /dev/[CDROM-DEVICE] /mnt/cdrom. Where CDROM-DEVICE is the device file for your cdrom.

for example

mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

Hi lw-nz!!! thank you very much for the help. But I have not found any /dev/cdrom... so I cannot use the command mount. Do you have any idea of what is happening or how can I fix it?? I really need to install linux again, but without cdrom or Internet, I dont know how!!

Have someone download and burn fresh installation discs of Fedora, then go into your BIOS and change the boot order to have your CD-Rom boot first. Your Fedora installation may be fried, but your BIOS still recognizes the CD-Rom and will accept the installation.
