My iPod was mounting and being detected. I then upgraded my kernel for linux and the firmware for the iPod. When I tried to use the iPod on linux it would not be detected. I've tried using an older kernel but that did not help. Is there anyway I can have it be detected without having to downgrade my firmware for the iPod, or is it even the firware that is the problem?

did you try to manually mount the Ipod through the command line? mount /place/where/your/firmwareconnects.

yes i did try to mount it through the command line and it still would not mount

Hmmm, not that sure then. Am getting an IPOD for christmas so hopefully we can solve this. Will look more into it as time permits.
