Hello
I've recently installed Fedora Core 4 - and everything seems to be working just fine, except my soundcard, which is a Hercules Fortissimo 7.1.
When I play music, the music plays just fine - but then there is also a lot of noise, a sort scratching sound, as if I was playing too loud on poor speakers. -- Only, I can hear it at very low sound levels on my farily good speakers and also in my very good headphones.
I've tried all combinations of attaching speakers and headphones to the two outlets on the soundcard, and all gives me the noise. (The two outlets being the ones for "two speakers" and "headphones")
I've tried adjusting up and down "Master" "Headphone" and "PCM" settings in >Volume Control: Sound Fusion CS46xx (Alsa mixer)< (and I've tested a series of other settings as well in the mixer - but they didn't seem influence anything.)
As you read from the above line my soundcard has been detected as Model: Logic CS 4614/22/24 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] - Module: snd-cs46xx.
The soundcard worked fine in Windows (I'll run another test in a minute, but I've been too lazy to reboot.), so I suppose it's got something to do with the driver or some other software. But further than this, I am pretty clueless ..
Is there a driver to be found somewhere?
Could something else be causing the problem?
Is my best option to get a SoundBlaster card?
Thanks in advance
