View Full Version : White Screen - what to do

I have a 6 year old IBM ThinkPad. I installed Fedora Core 1 without any problems and it worked well. I just downloaded and installed (???) Fedora Core 4. During the graphic install, I kept getting a white screen. I tried the text install, and again, after rebooting, a white screen. I tried all of the variations suggested by the F3 or was it F4 key and again a white screen. (All of these screens occupied about 75% of my LCD monitor.)

I reinstalled Fedora Core 1, then installed Core 4 as an upgrade. This time, I got a full sized white screen. Following, but not fully understanding the Grub Edit suggestions in this forum, I was able to login at the Command Line level - so, I know that Fedora 4 is, up to a certain point, properly installed.

How do I get Fedora Core 4 to recognize my monitor and get past the white screen?

Please help me get past this snag.

Thanks
Steve Jacobs
