Hi,
Does anyone know where to get the latest speedtouch drivers for FC4?
version 1.3.1 here (http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/index.php?/download.en.html) fails to compile.
I've been told to get something a recent as August 2005 but can't find any more recent builds than 2004.
The problem file is modem_run.c which I've found fixed here (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/speedtouch/speedtouch/src/) but can't find a build that includes it.
Anyone have a link to latest builds for speedtouch drivers?
Thanks,
Chris

Just comment out the line "extern int verbose;" in speedtouch-1.3.1/src/modem.h

Thanks. But can you or anyone tell me where to find the latest drivers?

The drivers that you have are the userland SpeedTouch drivers. There are also a different type of drivers - the kernel SpeedTouch drivers (http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/fedora/) that you might have more luck with. (dunno) You cannot use them both at the same time.

Hi,
I don't understand the term 'userland' but the drivers I'm after at the latest update of release 1.3.1 found here
.

And, without mistakes,

That means yours are the drivers which run in the user space, whilst the ones Spoon is talking about are the kernel drivers. I have used the user space ones for 3 years and they served me well (more or less: some crashes). Now I am on cable, so I've lost track of their development. Had a look around, but couldn't find any newer that 1.3.1.

Hi Giulix,
Thanks for the info, although, 'user space' is just as confusing to me as 'userland'.
Are kernel drivers those common drivers installed along with the kernel as part of the Fedora Core installation?
If so, then any drivers I would be looking for would be 'userland/user space' (except updates to the kernel drivers). Is that right?
As for the updates to 1.3.1, I guess I'll just hang around for a while and see what comes up.
There should be later builds because the source has been updated so much since the 1.3.1 release.
See here (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/speedtouch/speedtouch/src/).
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, although I don't know whether they are part of the standard installation or you have to compile them in the kernel yourself.

Yes, that's correct.

If you can afford that, I think that's the most sensible thing to do; otherwise you can try and compile it yourself.

Yes, most probably there are...
