I'm curious if others have managed to get Fedora installed on working on the older iPAQ Legacy Free machines.
There were about six models, some with Celerons others with Pentium III's. Speed ranging from 600Mhz to 1Ghz.
Anyways, I tried loading Fedra Core 1, thinking it might be a safer bet, but that was a no go. Install iether hangs or does a constant "reboot" syndrome.
Before I take the time to download the newer Fedora versions, I'm curious if others have tinkered with these machines. They make nice mini stations because of small size, and since Linux won't offset me $300.00 for a license, I'm eager to give it a spin.

you my friend are in luck... i recently aquired one of these damn boxes... im blessed with 733 p3 and 256meg ram. CD-Rom and a 10 gig drive
unfortionatly i didnt feel like wasting cds just so i can get core5 on it so i used my core5 dvd and copied the files to my other compters harddrive (also a core 5 install) i then set up my computer as a RIS (remote installation server) server. i used the built in PXE stuff in the iPaq to install core 5 on it. its slow as **** tho thats the thing i've noticed about the ipaq. ata-66 drives are the shiznit.... NOT.
This is how i set up my linux machien (server) to install core 5 onto the ipaq
1. set up DHCP for bootp
2.setup a tftp server
3.setup a NFS server to host files.
unfortionatly in the packing up for the end of the semester i packed my server away already... so i cannot delight you with some config files or such... its just me and my ipaq to last me the rest of this week.... *sigh*
