I have a Gateway 7330gz notebook (I know, but it was cheap) and I can't get any sound from my speakers. I have read all the posts I could find about fixing audio and have tried everything I found but have had no success. I tried playing around with the Gnome audio controls and alsamixer (yes I did page right to un-mute the external amp and everything) but still nothing. The soundcard detection tells me this:
Vendor: Intel
Model: Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller
Module: snd-intel8x0
and if I click Play Test Sound, it hangs and I have to force a quit. Any suggestions?
