HI.
I have a problem installing FC4...

The system is:

Sempron 64 2500+ (socket 754)
ASRock - GeForce 6100+nForce410 MoBo
512 MB DDR 400
on-board video
on-board LAN + Intel EtherExpress Pro/100 PCI Card
Seagate 80 GB ata100 2MB.

When I try to install FC4 on the system, all goes well with the config and package selection, but the install seems to freeze during the package installation...

I've tried several times, and the result is the same... The curious thing is that it doesn't freeze in the same spot...

My guess is that the nVidia IDE controller is not recognized by the 2.6.11 kernel (thow i think it should be...) and freezes when thensfer occurs for a prolongued time through it... it's just a guess... I don't know if it's accurate.

Is there any way to:
1. install FC4 with a newer kernel version..
2. rebuild the install DVD with a newer kernel version an then install...
ELSE: what can I do... ????

I had a similar problem. mine was freezing too. go into the bios settings and set the framebuffer to 32M or 64M. I think it has something to do with the way it's detecting the shared memory. so change it to a lower setting. it worked for me. :D

you can probably change the framebuffer back to a higher setting after installation when you have the right working drivers

The amount of shared memory I've set is 16MB
