Hi there
I am looking for a list of "Classical External Soundcards", meaning sound card, not on board which are known to be recognized by Fedora Core 3, out of the box.

Thanks, Oren

Creative (labs) Sound Balster based cards have been a long standing standard.

But more advanced sound systems will need to be configured and may not work to their full ability.

For example, 5.1, 7.1 meaning 6 channels on 3 or six plugs, 8 channel on 4 or 8 plugs?
External amp,

I have on-board intel 5.1 on 3 plugs (borrowing the mic and line-in plugs), connected to an external Creative Inspire T5400 (5.1)

I can only get front and center, or base and rear ... so far.

An internal soundcard would have the same 3 plugs and it would need to be setup with the correct items on the sound volume gui - alsa mixer, or whatever sound software it uses.

P.S. If money is not object get speakers with 24K not 16,18,20K. There is a big dfference.
Only base blown eardrumbs think the flat boom booms are cool. :)

After playing with the sound volume gui I now have 5.1 playing on all 6 speakers.
I've only had Linux on this computer for a few days (Ubuntu 5.10).
I have had to install a lot of extra pieces that are there on FC4 so if you get a Creative system and a creative speaker system it will work with a few clicks of the controls.
