The type of monitor really shouldn't matter too much. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 730b (17'') and I'm really happy with it. The only possible issues I would look out for are monitors that have extended features such as a built in USB hub or speakers. Sometimes these monitors require specail drivers, depending on how they interface with your computer.
remember, Newegg.com is your friend

Even if the LCD monitor you buy isn't explicitly supported by FC4, the "Generic LCD" option for display hardware should work fine. It does for me. I have a Rosewill 17" LCD monitor that works great.

Same, although initially I just entered the real name of the BenQ FP931 in xorg.conf, when I updated my ATI drivers it got stuck at some uber-high resolution and I had to use Generic to get it working right. :p
