My Server (a Primergy F200) has startup powering itself up on the stroke of midnight ever since I installed Fedora Core 4 on it. It will only do this if I change the 'ACPI Controlled By' setting in the BIOS from 'BIOS' to 'O/S'.

I've search Google but can find nothing that helps.

most bios have the option to power up the PC at certain times..

or maybe your server receives a WOL signal?

Try adjusting the ACPI settings in FC4 if you want the OS to control your power management instead of the BIOS. I'm not sure how to do this exactly, b/c my only experience with ACPI is on Emperorlinux (Based on FC3) and they use custom made scripts.

Hi Mat,

The BIOS has no timed/scheduled wake up options and the server was not connected to a network at all so a WOL can't be the cause.

Hi cyb3rkn1ght,

No idea how to change ACPI in Linux but I'll have a scout of Google and post back my results.

Cheers.
