Greetings to all!
I have a Toshiba Tecra A3.
Everything is supported, had to compile the drivers for the SK98Lin LAN and DRI support for the i915.
DRI *works*. It is noticably faster then VESA.. Xorg's logfile shows no errors about loading DRI, however...
Quake 3 seems to run severly slower then it would on an indentical laptop running Windows. DRI is loaded, AGPGart is loaded, running at 16bit/Color (not 32), but Q3 runs at around 40fps, drops to 15-25fps under any decent room scenery or fight action.
The same laptop running Windows achieves around 70-80FPS constant. Both at 1024x768, with the same settings.
Why is OpenGL preformance slower under Linux then under Windows? From experience, it should be the other way around (Doom 3 FLIES on my Opteron at home under Linux, but lags horribly under Windows with the Nvidia drivers)... Any ideas?
