Hi,
I have FC3 working as a server just fine, but during install, I declined the desktop install options. I just installed Gnome with Yum and may have missed something. Gnome works when I type startx, but for example, there was no gdm.conf file in /etc/X11 nor any other config files, compared to a full on installation of FC.
I have SSH working fine. I have a PC workstation on my network that has Exceed Xserver software. I would like to have an Xterminal open on my PC to work on the Fedora server, as well as any other useful X apps that I may need.
I cannot seem to grasp the simplicity/complexity of connecting to Fedora using Exceed. Does anyone have a simple checklist of things I may to so configure on the Fedora server to get Exceed to connect to it and work? Their documentation is rather convoluted and has no real newbie slant to it.
I have tried passive connections with putty and SSH tunneling with X11 forwarding to no avail, and I tried the XDCMP broadcast and query options to no avail... I always get a connection unavailable message. The LDP has a article on XDCMP setup but it seems out of date with FC3 etc. Can anyone point me to a useful article on connecting Exceed to Linux?
Thanks!!!
