Macromedia's proprietary flash player plugin is only 32-bit, so it doesn't work with 64-bit systems unless you install a 32-bit browser as well.

Does that mean uninstall 64bit firefox and install the 32bit version ?

If you want a working flash plugin: yes.

But there might be some dependancies!! and then lots of unnecessary software parts have to be updated every now and then ?
Is it possible to keep both versions ?

you don't have to unintall firefox64. Just download firefox32 from getfirefox.com and install it under a directory you want like, /opt/firefox32

Crapy Macromedia and their damned software!
Probably only after Windows Vista 64 spread out all over the world they will provide us some 64 bits support...

First, uninstall the 64 bit Firefox on your system. Then, install the 32 bit package, using yum if you want, and then install the plugin. It should work.

use a tarred archive of firefox instead of the installer. use a symbolic link called firefox from /usr/bin/ to <install directory>/firefox. You don't get the dependencies trouble.

To get Java and Flash working in 32-bit Firefox under FC4 x86_64, see this Howto (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=81591) .
