Halt at the system hardware scan,I can't install fedora

First,sorry for my poor English.

I meet a difficult when try to install fedora core4 to my system.
Whatever I choose,the graghics mode or text mode,the process stopped when the hardware scan, screen display"isapnp check;not find isapnp device".Then no any response after pressed the "capslock"key,the system died.
The optical disks work well at another system,also pass the media check.

hardware list:
intel stl2 severboard
dual intel p3 coppermine 1G
512 pc133 sd with ecc
fujitsu scsi 160 disk
video card,aic7899 scsi adapter,network all are onboard.
the system can pass the redhat 9.0 system check,and complete the setup.
Please give some advise.

At the first step of the install, before booting the kernel, at the "boot:" prompt, type:
linux pci=noacpi
if that doesn't work try:
linux acpi=off
as a last resort:
linux isapnp=reset
or
linux isapnp=pci_scan
(Hope this works..., never tried it)

linux apci=noapci;
it doesn't work.
linux apci=off
the same way.
linux isapnp=reset
it's a crazy command,sysytem also crashed.

I think the command line after "scan isapnp" is the key-point.My motherboard doesn't have isa slot,and the process clearly finished the check of isa device.Look at the top ,"the halt appeared after screen display "***, no find isapnp device"."

What is the next? Who can tell me?
Or , are there the On-Off key word that can let the system scaned process output as a file? I test it on another machine to get the important next step information.

Try to take out all the necessary cards you may have in the computer and maybe also change a graphic card just for the instalation time.

TO prey:
stl2 is a severboard,all are onboard,included video card,network and scsi adapter.The video card is ATI rage IIc,with 4M memery. As your words,I take the only independenced card,Creative SB Live,ther're not any improvement.

So, I give up FC4,Redhat 9.0 is running.

Still problems with RH 7.2 and 3ware escalade 6800

Hi,

I've a machine configured as follows:
- Motherboard Intel STL2, 2x PIII @866, 512 MB RAM, NetGear GA 620
- 3x 3ware 3W6800L (BIOS: 1.07.01.015)
- 2x 20 GB EIDE Quantum disks (for system installation, configured RAID1)
- 20x 80 GB Western Digital disks (for data, also RAID1)

The machine worked (and works) fine with RedHat 6.2.
Also the RedHat 7.1 installation seems to work correctly.
But I can't install RedHat7.2:

- I tried with update 2001/10/09: problems with sda (system) device. All
other devices (sdb to sdk) are seen correctly.
- The same with 2002/01/17 bootnet + update.
- I also tried, just for curiosity, with default bootnet fd: problems in
mounting all devices (that's a known problem).

I do not know what to do. The hardware seems to have no problems at all.

I'd thank in advance for any hint, suggestion, etc.

I have the same problem, my system is:

STL2, SR2100 (KB3HSRP) Intel chasis, 2x40GB SCSI HD, 1GB RAM,... on FC3 I had no problem with install.

I found this related article that is supposed to fix the install problem in the STL2, for those of you that have not got a tiny solution:

and it is supposed that FC4 will be installed with no problem if the pxelinux.cfg/default looks like this:

label linux
kernel vmlinuz
append acpi=off pci=noacpi noapic initrd=initrd.img

Has any one thested this "intall" option?, and...
Where should I modify or include the "append" line that is related on the article? (in what part of the install process an how?)

After a couple of tests, I installed FC4 on the STL2 !, how?, well, instead of installing the FC4 with the default option of pressing ENTER at the beginning of the intallation; I typed:

linux acpi=off

and pressed <ENTER> key.

Note: I installed FC4 on the STL2 in "SERVER"-"MINIMAL" installation option.

1)Does any of you have an idea of the option that is been disabled with the "acpi=off" parameter?
2)Will this impact in the performance of this hardware?
3)What is been disabled?
4)How do I activate this disabled feature after the succesfull installation? (I what to verify if the feature is supported in a post-installation)
