problem with 1394 adapter

Hi, all
I have 1394 adapter on my laptop, i could use that to share files between xp and xp or share internet before. Now, all i have is Fedora Core4, and it seems that this device was installed correctly. I can see it from Hardware list just:

Firewire: Richo Co Ltd R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller

But i do not know how to use that.......................
