View Full Version : 56k Modem not detected in FC4 - Please Help

I have just installed FC4 on my computer running side-by-side with Windows XP.
This is the first time I have ever used a Linux, and am enjoying the experience immensely :)!
Unfortunately, Fedora won't detect my 56k external modem, running through a COM port.
I had the same problem with Windows XP, and had to install a driver manually, which worked (a standard 56k dialup modem driver).
ANY help would be... well... helpful, and appreciated, thanks.

It's an old doc, but KPPP isn't changed

i had the same problem once,
what i did

-open the kppp
-open configure
-in modems tab
-press new modem
-choose a name and instead of /dev/modem choose /ttyS0

that's the way i solved it

Thank you both!
Yes, creating a modem with /ttyS0 worked! Thank You!
I had figured that that list had something to do with the ports, but wasn't sure what they meant.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It took a bit of fiddling but got there!
I am REALLY loving Fedora... Linux is grand!
Thanks,
