Ethernet Card

Hi
I am a newbie to Linux and trying to set up ADSL Connection but i dont think my ethernet card is working as during boot up it says :
Determining IP information for eth0 failed....no link present...check cable

can any one help me as how do i go about getting my ethernet card working.

Is your card connected to router? if no router attached see this... (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19352)
