Hi,

Thanks in advance for even taking the time to read this. Having said that, let me get to the point.

The Release Notes state booting issues with Sony Vaio laptops, which I indeed ran into - The fix, however, brings me up to the point where anaconda cannot detect my CDROM (old DVD in this case) device for installation, select a driver, blah. I tried ide1=0x180,0x386 (< gets me to dialog) and ide2=0x180,0x386 (< crashes before inst. method dialog) with the pci=off argument.

I'm running out of ideas, and greatly appeciate any help provided.

EDIT: I do see the drive being detected upon boot as hda3 unless I'm seeing things (flashes by quickly)

- Rafael

ide0 - 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6
ide1 - 0x170-0x177,0x376
(got these values from previous redhat install - they work)

pci=off
cdrom=/dev/hdc (i know this is valid)

Get's me somewhat farther. Crashes and/or stalls @:

mntloop loop0 on /mnt/runtime as /mnt/source/Fedora/base/stage2.img fd is 14 (or 10 sometimes)

UPDATE: I'm starting to doubt this is a system problem - I'm reburning the ISO (in which the MD5 is correct) via another system/media and program to rule that out.

On terminal 4 (no idea what that is) I see (might be slightly out of order - i was typing quick before it crashed)

* Extensions: RRIP_1991A
* Unable to identify CDROM Format
* IRQ Timeout Status = 0xD0 (Busy)

[ select locale (US) > goes into a loop on those two sectors again]
