Is it normal pratice for up2date to include completely new kernels?
I want to upgrade to v2.6.1, but I don't want to go through the hassle of building it myself, without gaining a better understanding of Linux.
Thanks.

Must have read somewhere that some great distributions use to customize the kernel. As latest version of the kernel ( 2.6 ) might present the similar improvements, they should be no need to upgrade the kernel. The major issue raised by this, is the futher differentiation of the distro's.
