Hi Gurus and fellows,

I found the Unofficial Faqs very fruitful for me as a Fedora (or Linux..) newbie. I have googled around quite a lot and tried to find a solution that would make the i810 integrated audio work in Fedora. Some of the sites suggest to install the Alsa drivers some claims that the AC97 (pure MMIO?) support would be in the current kernel (was it after 2.4?) version. I have kernel 2.4.22-1.2135.nptlsmp at the moment. Some sites also refers that there has been some problems relating the ALSA drivers (with workarounds though).

What would be the best shot, Alsa, newer kernel or something else?

Thx. for your great site, forum and help,

Jussi Makinen

I think the best way would be to follow the follow the following guide:

http://freshrpms.net/docs/alsa/

I did it, and it worked for me!

I'll probably try the one you pointed out.

I also found a site that seems to be very detailed, even copes some other issues, and has almost the same setup than I do:

I have the Intel i810 and onboard AC97 sound, and had no trouble. I did a straight upgrade from RH8 [Psyche] to Fedora [Yarrow], and never had to set anything up manually on either OS.

I have the same hardware and had no manual config
when I migrated from RH9 to fedora but found the
same hardware to need ALSA in gentoo.

Hello I have an ASUS A7N8X-E Card, so the sound driver is nforce2 AC97...
I am on FC3.
I had sound and microphone at the bigining, but now I have just the sound, i don't know why.
