I know there have been several threads on this exact same issue, but none of them ever got resolved and they are several weeks old. So allow me to resurrect it:

I'm running FC4 and have a Canon PowerShot A70 digital camera connected through a USB 2.0 port. The camera does not auto-mount when plugged into the USB and then turned on. If I go to gThumb and do File > Import Photos it will detect that I have a Canon PowerShot A70 connected to the computer, but I get this error message:

An error occurred in the io-library ('Bad parameters'): Could not find USB device (vendor 0x4a9, product 0x3073). Make sure this device is connected to the computer.

Yes, the camera is connected to the computer. But again, it does not auto-mount and so I can't even use Nautilus to browse the device.

The camera worked fine in FC3.

thanks!

Had this exact same problem two nights ago with my IXUS 50. I downloaded, compiled and installed libgphoto and after that gThumb was able to automatically recognize my IXUS as connected to the USB port.

This appears to be fixed in gphoto 2.1.6. (http://www.gphoto.org/news/) This version is already in the development release of Fedora and may appear in a FC4 update soon.

If you're on KDE, go into the control center, peripherals, cameras, and add you camera, then try with gThumb.
