Well, I cannot get my sound working on my Latitude D610 notebook with Fedora Core 4.

I have searched the fourms and have followed the suggestions for FC3, but they don't seem to be working for me.c

According to system-config-soundcard
Vendor: Intel
Model : Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller
Module snd-intel8x0

My /etc/modprobe file;
alias eth0 tg3
alias scsi_hostadapter ata_piix
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-intel8x0 index=0
remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd

I've set my PCM audio in alsamixer, I've tried the test WAV's from system-config-soundcard, a cd in the cd player and xmms and I don't hear anything.

Any ideas?

For what it's worth, I installed Fedora Core 3 onto the same laptop and sound worked perfectly right out of the box.

Any ideas on how to make FC4 work?

I have it working now in FC4. I ran alsamixer and there is an option at the very far right called External Amplifier and it was set to M for mute.

I changed it to 0 for switched on and everything is well. Hope this helps somebody out.

FC2 and FC3 worked fine in my DELL latitude D600.
FC4 was unable to play any sound... Too bad !

Thanks to you, it works now !

(alsamixer + option external amplifier set to mute...)
