Ok guys it took me 6 months to get FC and ipw2100 working w/ wpa_supplicant.

Don't know the particulars of why, but could never get this setup w/ FC3.
Tried it w/ FC4 and now I have FC4/ipw2100/wpa_supplicant working.

Now the problem is that I cant get kismet working.

To the point, it seems my config/install that allows for wpa prevents me or Kismet from changing the mode of the card to Monitor. I can switch to ad-hoc and managed manually but not Monitor.

So here's what I've done.

Default/Simple FC4 clean install, add ipw2100 firmware, setup card by adding new Ethernet connection. Change ifcfg-eth1 to wirless. After this the unencrypted and wep works fine, kismet and airsnort work, and I can manually change mode to monitor via: iwconfig eth1 mode Monitor. But with this default setup, wpa_supplicant does not work with ipw2100 giving ioctrl errors.

To get ipw2100 working w/ wpa_supplicant I do default FC4 install, dl ipw2100 v:1.1.0, apply a patch to ipw2100 source that solves ioctrl errors and make and install the driver. I add the driver/device listed under ethernet. After this ipw2100 plays nice with wpa_supplicant, but then I cannot set the card to Monitor mode.

I'd like to get both working at the same time.

Any help appreciated.

sounds like a question for the developers of the driver
you can subscribe to the list here http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/ipw2100-devel
