Hello,
I have a HP PSC 1315 and the computer OS is FC4 (the kernel is 2.6.12-1.1390_FC4).
The command lspci is not showing the printer, but it did show on FC3 and the printer was working on FC3.
Any ideias, please?
TIA,
Vinicius

Closest I found was the 1310 (http://linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1310). Should work, add it with System Settings > Printing.

Are you using Fedora Core 4 with the kernel 2.6.12-1.1390_FC4?
What are the outputs of lspci and lsusb, please?
On my computer, the commands above are showing nothing about the printer, but the one was recognized on FC3, so I used the hplip driver (0.8.7 to 0.9.2) to configure that.
Did you do a fresh installation of FC4 ou just an upgrade, please?
TIA,
Vinicius.

The problem was solved, see the link: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2005-July/msg02013.html
We must do:
"
# /etc/init.d/cups-config-daemon stop
# /sbin/chkconfig cups-config-daemon off
"
Then reboot the computer.
Thanks,
Vinicius.

Unfortunately, there is something strange.
After each restart of the computer, the command lsusb does not show the printer information, I must turn off and the turn on the printer, so lsusb shows the printer information.
Any ideas, please?
Vinicius.

Hello,
The problem wasn't solved as I said before. But finally, after the kernel "kernel-2.6.12-1.1398_FC4" installed, I was able to install the printer. Now the command 'lsusb' detects the printer.
Now it prints and scans with success.
Regards,
Vinicius.
P.S.: As suggested by Dave Jones I did do backups of modprobe.conf and hwconf, but kudzu wasn't able to detect all my hardware even after a reboot. So, I had to restore modprobe.conf .
