Hi Every 1,

I am having problems with my ATI Radeon X700 pci-e card being accepted on fedora core 4.
I am a complete newbie to Linux and have read the articles on this forum and others concerning the issue of the ATI graphics cards.
I have followed and downloaded the RPM packages from the ATI support website to no avail. I'm currently using the vesa drivers but restricted to a 640x480 resolution. When I try to increase the resolution size this was not successful.
The ATI Radeon X700 card is not present in the “Video Card” device list.
I am at a complete loss at the moment I am considering to buy another graphics card??
Can any 1 help me plz….??
Kind Regards

Matt.

Ok I had major probs too trying the ATI driver. My card is X850XT PCI-E. The good news is it now works. I downloaded the Livna packages, which is where they have it all packages up for your distribution, so it should work.

Check this http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61353&highlight=ATI . In particular, post #6, by 9216vx. Although when I did this yum install step and rebooted it still wasn't working. I then as root, ran fglrxconfig, which came with the ATI driver. It made me a proper xorg.conf file, which stated fglrx as the driver. Then when I restarted it worked.

Best of luck.
